Siemens Selects SupplyOn for Supplier Process Optimization

SupplyOn is now the preferred vendor of Siemens for electronic data interchange in the procurement process—from ordering to billing

Hallbergmoos, GermanyNov. 8, 2013Siemens AG selected the SupplyOn collaboration platform to push electronic processing of procurement processes group-wide and to optimize cooperation with several thousand suppliers through the efficient elimination of media breaks. The decision was made as part of the Electronic Supplier Integration Project (ESIP) that had the aim of identifying a solution partner for group-wide electronic communication with suppliers.

"Through universal use of the central industry platform, SupplyOn, Siemens expects a substantial acceleration in the elimination of non-value-adding activities in operational procurement of both direct and indirect material," said Wolfgang Böhme, project leader of corporate supply chain management at Siemens AG, in regard to the decision to choose SupplyOn. "Collaboration processes with suppliers will be more efficient, secure and traceable."

"In addition to the classic procure-to-pay process, partially connected to the electronic exchange of relevant documents, we expect additional improvements through the introduction of vendor-managed inventory (VMI) processes using SupplyOn," according to Horst Erdel who is responsible for projects related to the energy sector.

Following completion of various pilot projects, SupplyOn solutions are being used in additional business units at Siemens. In a further development, forwarding companies for the transport management process also expect to be tied in using SupplyOn in order to integrate the process into material requirements planning and thus optimize it.
