St. Louis Regional Freightway, a Bi-State Development Enterprise
St. Louis, MO 63102
Founded in 2014, The St. Louis Regional Freightway is an enterprise of Bi-State Development, a dynamic and multi-faceted resource for economic development in the St. Louis region. The St. Louis Regional Freightway works to enhance the St. Louis region’s standing as a premier international freight hub, coordinating regional freight development efforts and tightly connecting the private and public sectors while advocating the region’s greatest freight and site selection strengths. Executive Director Mary Lamie heads the regional effort to grow the $6 billion of goods traveling through the bi-state area annually and to ensure the freight network can handle the 45% growth in freight volume projected over the next 25 years.
The St. Louis Regional Freightway has created a foundation for a comprehensive, regional approach to freight management, infrastructure and marketing, and unites the region toward a common focus by establishing partnerships bridging government boundaries, public and private sector, industries and modes of transportation.
Updated annually, the St. Louis Regional Freightway’s Priority Projects List, represents key infrastructure needs of the manufacturing and logistics industries in the region and is a valuable tool to align and amplify advocacy for support and funding for critical infrastructure improvements. The latest List includes 21 projects representing total investment of $2.2 billion, of which over $1 billion are projects already under construction or funded and expected to get underway, some as early as during 2020. The list indicates tremendous progress is being made on nearly two dozen projects that will strengthen critical roads, bridges, rail infrastructure and port and airport facilities across the bi-state St. Louis region.
The organization also maintains an interactive website featuring 37 sites with 8,000+ acres available for development in Missouri & Illinois. The recently enhanced website is the latest offering from the St. Louis Regional Freightway, which is committed to being the source of up-to-date information for the entire industrial market as it works to provide both marketing for active sites and accurate listings for interested parties.
