Pros to Know: Scarbrough Global's Adam Hill's Details Lessons Learned from Intern to CEO

We talked exclusively with Hill about value chain management systems, tariff challenges and lessons learned from being an intern to a CEO in the freight industry.

As president and CEO of Scarbrough Global, Adam Hill analyzes market trends and identifies new business opportunities, develops and executes long-term strategic plans for the business, builds a leading high-performing executive team, fosters a positive company culture and values while overseeing operations across 5 operating companies (international customs house brokerage, transportation, logistics, warehousing and consulting) in 3 countries (United States, Mexico, and Canada). Hill is more than just a CEO; he is a true part of the team, staying involved in day-to-day activities.

In early 2024, Hill expanded operations into Canada, and in mid-2024, partnered with Altana to provide the world’s first value chain management system to give customers access to unparalleled visibility, AI-driven decision support, and collaborative workflows, allowing customers to detect and manage compliance with a single source of truth. Scarbrough is said to be one of the first customs brokerage groups to provide this service, allowing the ability to use AI to screen all shipments being imported into the United States to monitor for any forced labor risks. And, throughout the last 12 months, Hill has dedicated a great deal of time, with a hands-on approach, to overhauling the existing warehouse operation and implementing new processes and solutions to improve overall efficiency and performance for the warehouse team. He assisted the warehouse team with identifying inefficiencies (such as inventory processes) in the existing processes, and putting new technology, staff, and software feature enhancements in place.

Over the next 12 months, Hill is looking to continue to grow the organization through organic growth, acquisitions and automation with the use of technology, and expand into other countries, beyond the United States, Canada and Mexico. With the use of technology, Hill is looking to do more through building and implementing new solutions that will allow the company to automate some processes, better utilize data, and more.
