Starting in 2020 Hasbro will phase out from using plastic in its packaging, including elements such as polybags, elastic bands, shrink wrap, window sheets and blister packs. The company's ambition is to eliminate all plastic for its new products by the end of 2022.

The toy company has had a long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability, previously eliminating wire ties in 2010 and adding How2Recycle labeling in 2016. Most recently, Hasbro launched a toy recycling program with TerraCycle in addition to its Sustainability Center of Excellence that helps integrates sustainability across the business, including new eco-friendly package designs.

Hasbro's Toy Recycling Program allows consumers to send used toys and games to TerraCycle, a global leader in product recycling. There, the company will recycle them into materials to be used in the construction of play spaces, flowerpots, park benches and other innovative uses. The company has recently expanded the program to France, Germany and Brazil and is expecting to expand it to additional markets as well, ensuring all Hasbro toys and games are recyclable in the major markets.
