3PL selects IRMS for order fulfillment, inventory control execution

Downers Grove, IL — March 3, 2006 — Third party logistics company Pierce Distribution Services has selected the IRMS .NET Warehouse Management System from Integrated Warehousing Solutions for order fulfillment and inventory control execution, the solution provider has announced.

Founded in 1954 as a government packing house, Illinois-based Pierce Distribution has become a leading 3PL provider offering a suite of services including procurement, warehousing, customer service, distribution as well as kitting, service and sub-assembly packaging,

Faced with increased service requests from existing and potential clients, Pierce Distribution looked to IRMS .NET to provide greater control over inventory and value-added activities such as kitting, sub-assembly and packaging; as well as improving order fulfillment by obtaining greater visibility to material within the supply chain.

Gaining Visibility ... And Flexibility

IWS said that IRMS' reporting capabilities will give Pierce on-demand visibility and flexibility to create customized reports that can accurately reflect critical data about inventory levels, volumes and dozens of other metrics that are required by 3PL providers and customers.

Pierce Distribution will deploy the IRMS .NET solutions nationwide in its seven warehouse facilities, totaling more than 650,000 square feet. The first location to go live will be its Belvidere, Ill., facility where IWS' IRMS .NET will be integrated with Pierce's host order management system, Visual Account Mate.

After a competitive process, IRMS .NET was selected based on the solution's ability to scale and meet Pierce Distribution's future needs, as well as its current business model, according to IWS.

"We selected IRMS as a critical part of our business expansion plans for 2006," said Jason Smith, director of information technologies for Pierce Distribution. "Integrated Warehousing Solutions' advanced system will enforce operational consistency across a growing and diverse customer base without sacrificing our already high customer service levels."
