Manufacturer selects solution to comply with radio frequency identification mandate from retailer Best Buy
Brisbane, CA, and Greensboro, NC — July 11, 2005 — Monster Cable Products, a manufacturer of high-performance a/v cables and power products, said today that it has implemented the IDVelocity's ComplianceNow Accelerator Solution to meet big-box retailer Best Buy's radio frequency identification (RFID) mandate.
According to Monster Cable, the ComplianceNow accelerator provides a pre-built application template that is easily tailored and integrated into the company's existing infrastructures and applications.
"The product was quickly tailored to our facility, equipment and shipping procedures," said Kevin Cornish, Monster Cable IT director. "Integration with our PeopleSoft [enterprise resource planning (ERP)] system has been completed, and we are ready to begin the road to compliance with Best Buy."
IDVelocity's ComplianceNow accelerator is built with IDVelocity ADC, its RFID/Auto-ID platform. The platform provides development of RFID/Auto-ID solutions by graphically designing the required business processes.
"It is very difficult to envision and design the best processes, especially with a technology that you're unfamiliar with, the very first time that you attempt it," added Cornish. "We have made several changes to our original-use case designs while the IDVelocity implementation team was on site. In most cases, the business process flow change we requested was a 'while you watch' event. This flexibility will be critical to us as Best Buy and other major retailers are sure to alter their mandates over the next few quarters."
