Casio Computer Taps Webplan

Hopes to enable real-time visibility and decision support across manufacturing supply chain

Hopes to enable real-time visibility and decision support across manufacturing supply chain

Ottawa — September 12, 2003 — Webplan, a provider of adaptable operations performance management software, has announced that Casio Computer of Japan, a producer of consumer electronics, corporate system equipment, as well as electronic components, has chosen Webplan Manufacturing Insight.

This implementation will address Casio's critical business challenges, including the requirements to improve customer service levels by delivering real-time demand information to their manufacturing operations throughout Asia.

Casio headquarters in Tokyo Japan and Casio Hong Kong are the first two business units that will rollout the Webplan solution. Webplan closes the loop with Casio's existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system by J.D. Edwards and with their supply chain planning solution by i2, among other enterprise applications.

The solution will deliver visibility and analysis throughout the organization and Casio's value chain. This helps them to share more accurate information and inventory levels with their suppliers to reduce lead times.

"I think the reason supply chain projects have not supported performance management so far is the IT department and the end user department started implementation without a clear picture of the project goal," said Atsushi Yazawa, chief information officer for Casio. "We chose Webplan because we could model Casio's supply chain by prototyping various scenarios. Because the end user department and IT department started this project with a common goal, we were able to implement efficiently and quickly."
