Carrier management functionality to facilitate collaboration between three carrier lines

Atlanta — November 12, 2003 — In a bid to increase workflow efficiency among its three transportation fleets, FFE Transportation Services Inc. said it has tapped Manhattan Associates' Transportation Management Systems (TMS) suite.

FFE, one of the largest trucking companies in North America, said it would use Manhattan Associates' TMS suite to increase collaboration between three business units within its organization: its dry freight truckload division, American Eagle Lines; its separate, affiliated carrier, Lisa Motor Lines; and FFE. Among these three business units there are approximately 2,300 trucks.

FFE said it evaluated several vendors' offerings but finally chose Manhattan Associates' TMS solution for its carrier management application. Stephen Branch, branch vice president at FFE, commented, "For the volume that we deal with on a day-to-day basis, we needed a transportation management solution that would not only help streamline our transportation needs, but also handle the demands of an expanding client base. Manhattan Associates' TMS will enable us to minimize operational costs while maximizing our profitability by increasing efficiency within and in between all three companies under the FFE umbrella."

The TMS suite will provide FFE with the means to apply automation and techniques to improve control over its transportation processes and resources, according to Manhattan Associates. Additionally, the carrier management functionality will increase FFE's flexibility, allowing it to adapt to real-time changes in its transportation network, optimize driver-to-load assignments, and determine the most efficient routes and fuel stops.

"We are pleased to be working with FFE to streamline their transportation processes," said Pervinder Johar, vice president, transportation product development at Manhattan Associates. "A diverse company with carrier lines capable of handling frozen, dry, full-truckload and less-than-truckload shipments, FFE will be able to use our carrier management application to secure visibility into their transportation landscape."

FFE, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, said it plans to implement Manhattan Associates' TMS solution company-wide by the end of the year.
