Enterprise Apps on a BlackBerry

Xora offers solution to link J2ME handhelds with companies' applications

Mountain View, CA June 3, 2002 Wireless applications specialist Xora and wireless solutions provider Research In Motion are partnering to offer mobile access to enterprise applications using BlackBerry handhelds.

Xora provides wireless, voice, Web and alert extensions to enterprise applications, allowing companies to connect their executives and line employees in the field to mission-critical software running behind the enterprise's firewall.

Xora's enterprise application connectors for wireless handhelds are already available in the connected mode on BlackBerry 957 and BlackBerry 950 models. The same Xora enterprise application connectors will also now be available on the new Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME)-based BlackBerry 5800 series handhelds from Research In Motion (RIM).

"BlackBerry is widely adopted in the corporate world and has set the bar for receiving corporate e-mail anytime, anywhere," said Peter Tsou, vice president of business development and alliances for Xora. "As corporations continue to see the advantages of higher productivity through mobility, the need to extend access from e-mail to also accessing enterprise application data on mobile devices becomes more imperative."

Canadian Research In Motion, based in Waterloo, Ont., designs, manufactures and markets wireless solutions for the mobile communications market.
