BMW Goes with SeeBeyond

Automaker selects integration platform for global infrastructure to support real-time business processes

Tempe, AZ  October 28, 2002  BMW Group has selected an integration platform from SeeBeyond as a key component of its global strategic infrastructure to support its real-time business processes.

The automaker will use SeeBeyond's Business Integration Suite for integration projects spanning core processes such as customer relationship management (CRM), human resources and supply chain. Initial projects will involve BMW Financial Services and product data management (PDM).

SeeBeyond's e*Gate Integrator platform will be the component of BMW's group-wide integration layer that defines the architectural concepts for application integration.

The BMW Group integration layer is based on a standardized approach for the identification and specification of process-oriented integration scenarios and their breakdown into typical integration patterns. These integration patterns are completed, as part of the BMW Group IT Blueprint, by adopting master architecture guidelines and master architecture solutions.

One key requirement for the solution was that it had to integrate into BMW Group's existing infrastructure of enterprise Java-based applications as well as mainframe-based legacy systems and packaged solutions such as the SAP R/3 enterprise resource planning system.
