According to Ledger Insights, IBM announced Tuesday a Blockchain Platform Multicloud, to allow the company’s blockchain solution to run on other clouds.
The upgrade will allow the blockchain platform to run on different cloud networks, including Microsoft’s Azure or Amazon Web Services. Previously, the platform was available only on IBM’s cloud.
With many enterprise networks serving as consortia, different cloud solutions are coming into play, making it likely that not every participant is working off the IBM cloud. In a blog post Tuesday, IBM Vice President of Blockchain Technologies Jerry Cuomo said that the value of blockchain depends on diverse industry members, and with diversity comes added complexity.
IBM’s vision is a fully-flexible blockchain platform, built around a well-managed open source distributed ledger technology, that can truly run in virtually any computing infrastructure.
