NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2001--PartMiner, an online provider of content, technology and procurement services to the electronic components industry, today announced a three-year agreement with Dell Computer Corporation, the world's leading direct computer systems company and a major supplier of technology for the Internet infrastructure.
The agreement designates PartMiner as a supplier of hard-to-find electronic components and provider of content technology; in addition, Dell Ventures has made an equity investment in PartMiner. Dell plans to utilize PartMiner's content technology and market-making services within Dell's engineering and procurement groups. PartMiner's market maker, PartMiner Direct, will provide procurement services to Dell and its contract manufacturers in instances when the company's primary suppliers are unable to meet unplanned upside demand for components essential for production.
It is a major endorsement for our company to have an industry leader such as Dell invest and bring us in to their supply chain, said Dan Nissanoff, CEO of PartMiner. We are proud of the depth of our offerings that made this partnership happen.
As part of the arrangement, PartMiner will customize its Free Trade Zone's content catalog and technology on over 12 million electronic components to utilize in developing and populating their Bill of Materials (BOM). Dell, in addition to its equity investment, will designate representatives to advise PartMiner's technology product development team with input on enhancing PartMiner online technology offerings.
