Allied to Deploy

Comergent teams up with KPMG Consulting

Redwood City, CA May 8, 2001 Finding the right e-commerce solution is one thing, but deploying it is another. B2B software customers are demanding the aid of consulting companies for such tasks, and, as a result, solution providers everywhere are scrounging for partnerships with such firms, further blurring the line between the consultant and the enabler.

The latest alliance to come out of this trend was formalized today, when Comergent Technologies, a provider of sell-side B2B e-commerce software solutions, announced a strategic agreement with KPMG Consulting to jointly market and sell their products and services. Under this agreement, KPMG Consulting professional services consultants will receive in-depth training on the Comergent Distributed E-Business System, and will integrate it with KPMG Consulting's deployment solutions. It was also announced that KPMG Consulting has been named a Preferred Implementation Partner for Comergent.

The joint KPMG Consulting/Comergent sell-side solution is available now and can already claim one happily deployed customer, Maxtor. "The combination of Comergent's software and KPMG Consulting's services enabled Maxtor to develop and deploy an e-commerce initiative that not only exceeded our high standards and expectations, but also came in early and on budget," said Jim Welsh, vice president of worldwide network systems group sales at Maxtor. "We were impressed with the teamwork between the Comergent and KPMG Consulting groups, and their unified commitment to providing Maxtor with the best products, services and support."

Of the partnership, Jean Kovacs, president and CEO at Comergent said, "KPMG Consulting shares Comergent's passion for providing our customers with best-of-breed products and services, and our commitment to forging customer/vendor partnerships that support on-going success."

"Many of our customers have asked us to provide a sell-side collaborative commerce solution that is fast to implement, easy to use, and provides a quick return on their investment," said Michael Donahue, chief operating officer, KPMG Consulting. "Comergent can enable KPMG Consulting to provide our customers with an e-commerce solution that may meet their objectives, while establishing a foundation for their future e-business initiatives."
