Horsham, PA September 5, 2001 VerticalNet this week released an upgrade to its e-procurement platform, providing new content management tools with added collaboration and administration functionality.
Content Hub version 2.0 adds collaboration tools, such as surveys, polls and user ratings, as well as administrative tools, including a site manager and page layout function that enables users to manage and update content directly from their desktop.
The Content Hub software is a component of VerticalNet's e-procurement platform, Procurement Portal, which also includes a set of content management templates. Combined, the hub and portal provide different access rights to different users to gather, exchange, customize and communicate procurement information such as spending data, negotiation status, agreements, vendor rankings, purchasing policies or other relevant information to assist purchasing operations.
"Procurement managers are challenged by the need to manage many complex relationships many of which are within their own organization," said Venkat Raju, VerticalNet's senior vice president of engineering and product development. "Our procurement portal solution ... enables them to more effectively address market pressures and fluctuations."
VerticalNet launched its Procurement Portal software in June 2001 in conjunction with Pepsi Bottling Group's deployment of the platform to consolidate the company's worldwide purchasing communications into a single Web-accessible location.
