Pittsburgh, PA October 23, 2001 printCafe, the operating system for print, announced shipment of over 3000 copies of the printCafe PrintSmith 6.2 upgrade to printCafe's on-demand, business, and quick-printing customers worldwide. In addition, On Demand Communications Limited of the United Kingdom announced an agreement with printCafe to upgrade all UK-based Prontaprints to this new release, and MultiCopy Europe announced it will upgrade at least 70 locations in Holland, France, Austria, and Poland, and will also purchase the Report Writer component.
printCafe PrintSmith is print management software that generates a complete set of production and historical reports from job specifications through final invoicing. PrintSmith 6.2 introduces significant new features including improved stock management, improved navigation, tools to change pricing methods, and integration with printCafe's e-commerce capabilities.
"printCafe PrintSmith is continually evolving to meet the demands of the quick-printing market," said Mike McLain, vice president of PrintSmith sales at printCafe. "Version 6.2 is significant because it offers many new features and benefits that are important to both our domestic and international customers. He cited the development of a Euro conversion utility, which printCafe hopes will be of specific value to European companies. With the utility, PrintSmith can now convert historical information such as sales and pricing from any currency to the new standard of Euro, allowing customers to maintain the ability to quote orders in Euros as well as their own country's currency including Guilders, Francs, and Marks.
On Demand Communications Limited, the company that manages information technology for Prontaprint's franchises worldwide, has signed an agreement to implement printCafe PrintSmith version 6.2 across all 210 franchises in their network.
"The Prontaprint centers have had a terrific experience with PrintSmith and are anticipating continued benefits and growth from the upgraded version," said Michelle Casey, systems support executive of On Demand Communications Limited.
printCafe recently announced the release of the PrintSmith Site beta, the integrated Internet application for PrintSmith which allows data to be entered in a custom-configured Web site hosted by printCafe and branded to reflect the customer's company identity. Job details are automatically downloaded into the PrintSmith management system and email notifications are sent to the printer's customer. For PrintSmith customers who already have a Web site, PrintSmith Site is designed to integrate seamlessly with the design and navigation of their existing sites.
