London November 7, 2001 Formation Systems made the leap across the Pond this week with the opening of its U.K. headquarters in Covent Garden, London, bringing its brand of product lifecycle management (PLM) to process industries in the British Isles.
In addition to its new London digs, Formation, headquartered in Southborough, Mass., currently has European offices in France, Germany and Belgium. The London office will support customers in those countries as well.
The company provides PLM solutions to such process industries as consumer-packaged goods and chemicals.
"Companies that want to remain competitive in the consumer packaged goods industry need to be automating product development as part of the product lifecycle," said Peter Shields, CEO of Formation Systems. "UK companies are leaders in the food, food ingredient, personal care and household products segment. These companies have indicated strong demand for our software solution, Optiva. That's why we're here."
"It is an exciting time to expand our operations to the United Kingdom, and to address the challenges of customers in process industries across the region to help them develop and commercialize new products," said Doug Townsend, the newly appointed sales manager who will head up the London office. "The worldwide market for product lifecycle management software is growing rapidly, and Formation Systems is seizing a tremendous opportunity by extending its global reach to U.K. manufacturers."
