Rumor Has It ...

SAP planning to cancel part of its Commerce One license deal

Birmingham, AL January 22, 2002 Several industry sources have reported today that software giant SAP is growing cold on its partnership with Commerce One.

The two companies began working together in 2000 to jointly market their marketplace and procurement solutions as well as teaming up to jointly develop and sell an online purchasing system. Yet now, according to industry sources, SAP is working to cancel part of its deal with Commerce One, in which the companies sell the jointly developed solution.

The rumors indicate that SAP is suggesting Commerce One seek business independently of the partnership. This is not good news for Commerce One's stock, which has been suffering for a steady six months and was down 30% today.

No official word yet from either company on a partnership cancellation.
