NFI Teams with EXE

3PL, solution provider to offer integrated supply chain solutions for large companies

Tempe, AZ August 7, 2002 Third party logistics (3PL) provider NFI has joined with supply chain execution (SCE) specialist EXE Technologies to offer an integrated supply chain solution to large companies nationwide.

NFI believes the growing recognition that outsourcing business-critical logistics functions can achieve core business objectives has presented 3PLs with both a great opportunity and a daunting challenge. The focus in logistics today is on speed and agility.

"Our customers are continually shrinking their cycle time from product development to manufacturing to on-the-shelf," said Sidney Brown, CEO of NFI. "We needed a technology partner that could not only help us build system solutions that could respond to these shrinking cycle times, but also had the resources, expertise and commitment to help us raise the bar to a new level. In short, we wanted to partner with the best of the best."

The first part of the relationship involves the integration of EXE's EXceed Fulfill warehouse management system (WMS) solutions across the broad business base of NFI National Distribution Centers (NDC). NDC operates 70 warehouses with 13 million square feet nationwide, serving large customized contract operations to small public warehouse overflow needs.

A 3PL's value to a customer is increasingly determined by how much the 3PL can do to increase the satisfaction of that customer's customers. "This is the NFI advantage," said James Vogel, president and chief operating officer of NFI National Distribution Centers. "Our partnership with EXE, and their uncompromising commitment to our success, is enabling us to move technology to the next level where it's making a difference not only in NFI's business, but also providing a considerable competitive edge for our customers."

NFI is a privately held family of companies with 110 facilities nationwide providing integrated supply chain solutions.
