Tempe, AZ October 31, 2002 Collaborative logistics specialist Nistevo is partnering with third-party logistics (3PL) provider The Arthur Wells Group (AWG) to offer a combined offering for the grocery industry.
The multiyear agreement brings AWG's expertise in the food industry together with Nistevo's Web-hosted transportation management system (TMS), which allows companies to plan, execute, settle and analyze their inbound and outbound transportation.
The combined logistics service and technology offering will be available to all of AWG's 600 carriers under contract and its 150 grocery customers, including Food Lion and Harris Teeter, among others.
The newly minted partners said that by coupling of AWG's managed services and Nistevo's Network, grocers should be able to realize reduced logistics costs, for example, through optimized less-than-truckload to full truckload consolidation, automated dock management and event alerts.
Larry Cooper, vice president of distribution at AWG customer Harris Teeter, gave the new partnership the thumbs-up. "There are significant savings to be gained by better connecting with our entire supply chain," Cooper said. "By selecting Nistevo, AWG made a good choice for us because Nistevo is connected to retailers, manufacturers and carriers."
Through the Network, AWG said it will plan and execute more than 550,000 annual shipments with an eye toward reducing its overall costs and expanding the reach of its business.
For its part, Nistevo, by teaming with AWG, gains extensive expertise in the grocery industry and can offer its customers immediate connectivity to a greatly increased number of suppliers, retailers, distributors and carriers while providing new opportunities for collaboration across its expanding Network.
