Hong Kong, China December 4, 2002 Logistics solutions provider Descartes Systems Group Inc. today announced a global business development initiative that includes joint marketing and sales activities with Standard Chartered Bank, one of Hong Kong's longest established banks. The companies will deliver B2BeX, a trade, finance and logistics platform that is powered by Descartes' logistics solutions.
According to the companies, B2BeX will bring supply chain and logistics connectivity and messaging to Standard Chartered Bank's business customers and their trading partners on a global scale. In particular, it is designed for importers and exporters faced with the complexities of cross border trade, providing trade-related products and services that facilitate the sourcing, financing and logistics activities central to international trade. In addition, the system was developed to eliminate inefficient paper-based trade processes
As one of Hong Kong's most recognizable brands, Standard Chartered Bank will also market Descartes' network-based logistics solutions such as Descartes Carrier Contract and Shipment Management and Descartes Global Visibility and Inventory Control. Descartes' solutions drive operational efficiency, enhance customer responsiveness and improve precision in purchasing for global organizations in more than 60 countries.
