Telecom Company Gets Competitive

Tenovis selects C1 solutions for its purchasing processes

Pleasanton, CA, Munich, Germany December 11, 2002 Competition and cost pressure in the telecommunications industry is intense as the deregulation and consolidation of the market forces the industry to evolve. To stay in the game, Tenovis, a German communication service provider, announced it has selected Commerce One solutions for its purchasing processes.

Commerce One said it would standardize and integrate Tenovis' source-to-pay process, including supplier selection, supplier performance management and online negotiations.

Commerce One is not a stranger to the telecommunications industry, with customers that include Deutsche Telekom, running one of the largest e-procurement installations with more than 20,000 users, British Telecom, Cable & Wireless, Telecom Italia, and Swisscom.

"We selected Commerce One for its modularity, ability to easily integrate with our [enterprise resource planning] systems and expand to additional e-commerce initiatives," said Friedhelm Luttecke, head of purchasing at Tenovis. "With an optimized supplier base, we can now implement processes that will help us make the right decisions and consider overall costs for the company. Electronic processes will replace routine tasks and employees will be free to pursue more strategic objectives."
