Waterloo, Ontario January 2, 2003 Media giant AOL Time Warner is set to use a logistics connectivity solution from Descartes Systems Group to manage communications with its transportation suppliers.

AOL, which has businesses ranging from interactive services and cable systems to television networks and publishing, will manage communications with its suppliers through Descartes' Global Logistics Services Network (GLSN).

Descartes said that GLSN acts as a global connectivity infrastructure, letting trading partners communicate across geographies. The network is intended to reduce complexity and increase efficiency in communicating critical, real-time business information between and among trading partners with intersecting supply chains, according to the solution provider.

With over 6,000 connected companies worldwide, the GLSN also acts as an enabler for Descartes's network-based applications, such as multimodal transportation management, global visibility and inventory control, and carrier contract and shipment management.
