New, Upgraded HR Apps

PeopleSoft offers sales incentive management, expands human resources offering, upgrades e-learning solution

Pleasanton, CA January 6, 2003 Enterprise software provider PeopleSoft returned to its roots today, releasing a gaggle of new human capital and human resources management solutions.

The provider delivered a sales incentive management solution for high-tech and industrial organizations, four new products in its Human Resources Management (HRMS) suite and an upgrade to its Enterprise Learning Management suite.

Sales Incentive Management (SIM), part of PeopleSoft's human capital management (HCM) solutions, is intended to reduce incentive management expenses by streamlining administrative processes and providing greater visibility, control and agility to management, thereby helping companies to align their incentive plans to business objectives.

High-tech and industrial organizations face such challenges as managing a large sales force, increasingly shorter product life cycles, channel conflict and tracking multiple commission and territory structures. PeopleSoft said SIM is designed to help these organizations meet the specific challenges of their industries by providing predefined compensation plan calculations and specific user interfaces.

The solution also moves the incentive process online, allowing access throughout the organization and potentially reducing the burdens associated with managing complex incentive plans across diverse business units.

On the HRMS front, PeopleSoft released ePerformance, Help Desk for Human Resources and Mobile Time Management. Additionally, the provider said it has expanded its geographic capabilities for its Global Payroll solution.

ePerformance is intended to help organizations reinforce corporate objectives from the boardroom to the storeroom, aligning employees with a company's goals and objectives. HelpDesk for Human Resources is designed to help drive efficiency in handling HR-related inquiries by providing HR specialists with a view of every employee's case history and HR data. The solution also can connect employees to an HR specialist with the appropriate skills to address their specific requests.

Mobile Time Management is the first product to be available within the HCM mobile business applications suite currently under development, Mobile Workforce. Mobile Time Management is intended to help employees who must connect remotely to their time reporting systems.

In addition, PeopleSoft said it has expanded its geographic capabilities for its Global Payroll solution to include India, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Netherlands and Brazil.

Finally, the solution provider released version 8.8 of its Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) solution, a part of PeopleSoft's HCM offering. The software company said ELM helps organizations align training and development initiatives with operational goals. The ELM solution is pre-integrated with PeopleSoft HRMS and can be integrated with legacy or third-party systems, allowing organizations to leverage existing HR information, according to PeopleSoft.

"Organizations with multiple, disconnected learning systems are unable to manage or measure the results of the learning they are providing," said Doug Merritt, vice president and general manager for PeopleSoft HCM. "ELM is a practical solution that makes individual learning a matter of enterprise-wide performance."

PeopleSoft has been keeping its software programmers busy of late, rolling out over the past month the latest version of its customer relationship management (CRM) solution, an upgrade to its business intelligence and analytics solution, and four new solutions targeting financial consolidations, project investment decision support, catalog management and supplier ratings.
