Toronto January 7, 2003 Radio Beacon, a developer of warehouse management software (WMS) for the mid-market, has released a new solution targeting distributors using Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
Radio Beacon said its new WMS software offers advanced features and scalability not available in previous releases of its eponymous RADIO BEACON WMS products, and that the software now supports significantly more users, more orders and larger warehouses.
New features include container receiving, "supermarket picking," hazardous materials (HAZMAT) management, advanced kitting and packaging tools, and ad hoc reporting and integrated shipping. Platform and process improvements provide support for operations running up to 100,000 order lines per day.
"With RADIO BEACON, we are now supporting both the entry level needs of smaller warehouses as well as the high-volume, multi-site needs of larger distributors," said Dale Jeffries, president at Radio Beacon. "This product is easy to install and priced for the mid-market, with the scalability to support distributors as they grow."
RADIO BEACON WMS integrates with accounting packages such as Microsoft Great Plains and Best Software and can be configured for multi-customer, multi-user and multi-site environments to meet the needs of third-party logistics companies and larger distributors, according to the provider. The Web-based software is intended to allow warehouses to deliver visibility across their entire supply chain to suppliers, customers, shippers and internal departments.
One Radio Beacon customer, Security Packaging, has already installed the new product at its facility in Michigan. "Radio Beacon transformed us from a small player with manual packing and shipping processes to a sophisticated distributor," said Christy Scheer, vice president of finance for the company. "We have been very happy with this product and we want to expand Radio Beacon into other aspects of our business this year."
Radio Beacon is offering upgrades of the Microsoft SQL product to its existing users. RADIO BEACON WMS for Microsoft SQL is available immediately through the company's reseller channel.
