Atlanta January 8, 2003 SynQuest, a provider of supply chain planning and event management applications, has renamed itself Viewlocity, taking on the name of the software company with which it merged last year.
SynQuest, Viewlocity and fellow software provider Tilion, which offered Internet-based event management solutions for logistics and supply chain managers, announced their three-way merger in September. At the time, the three said they would retain the SynQuest name for the new company.
But Jeff Simpson, former Viewlocity CEO and current chief of the merged company, said in a statement this week that the switch back to the Viewlocity moniker marked a new start for the post-merger provider. "We view this new name as symbolizing a new beginning for our company," Simpson said. "The Viewlocity name better reflects the impact of our merger and represents a strong market identity."
Simpson said Viewlocity is already recognized as a provider of supply chain solutions. "We believe there is a growing demand for these emerging technologies in today's market, and the Viewlocity brand name represents a strong value proposition to our customers and prospects," he concluded.
