SciQuest Partners with Essex Technology

Will deliver biological materials management appliance to life science companies

Research Triangle Park, NC and Rochelle Park, NJ — March 27, 2003 — SciQuest Inc. announced at the Bio-IT World Conference in Boston this week a partnership with Essex Technology to deliver LifeCycle BioBox, a materials management appliance designed to make biological sample management accessible and affordable for emerging life science companies.

According to the companies, BioBox combines SciQuest's LifeCycle Biologicals Manager solution with a pre-configured IBM infrastructure including an IBM pSeries eServer, WebSphere application software and DB2 Universal Database. SciQuest and Essex Technology Group, an IBM Premier Business Partner, will market the appliance to research-intensive organizations including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as government agencies.

SciQuest said its solution enables researchers to submit biological samples into a centralized database using forms that capture properties specific to each sample class, such as vectors, microbial strains or cell lines. Using a comprehensive search interface, researchers locate and order biological samples from local or centralized storage facilities. Repository managers can fulfill orders and globally manage sample inventory through integrated tools.

The BioBox appliance provides organizations with such things as a centralized repository of biological assets, order processing and fulfillment of biological inventory and materials management.

The LifeCycle BioBox is currently available.
