Two for Ariba

Clothing retailer Limited Brands, pharma giant Roche sign up for spend management solutions

Sunnyvale, CA — April 30, 2003 — Spend management solution provider Ariba this week signed up two new customers for its solutions, bringing onboard U.S. clothing retailer Limited Brands and Swiss pharma giant Roche.

Limited Brands operates more than 4,000 specialty stores under such names as Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works and Express. The company tallied 2002 sales of $8.4 billion.

The clothier has tapped Ariba Spend Management in a bid to better manage its corporate-wide spend and its complete purchasing process. The company, which was recently named the world's most admired specialty retailer by Fortune magazine, will use Ariba's Analysis, Contracts, Buyer, Travel and Expense, Enterprise Sourcing, and Invoice solutions.

Limited will initially deploy the applications to corporate locations, with full deployment to the entire enterprise occurring over the next 12 months.

Meanwhile, Basel, Switzerland-based Roche has also elected to adopt Spend Management solutions, allowing Ariba to count the world's top ten pharmaceutical companies, by revenue, as its customers.

Roche, with about 61,900 employees in its two core businesses, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, had 2002 sales of $19.5 billion.

According to Ariba, Roche selected the provider's solutions because of their suitability for multi-site rollout, including integration to SAP and legacy systems, leveraged supplier integration and global contract management functionality.

"With Ariba Spend Management we will be able to offer more valued services to our internal business partners," said Kurt Kopp, head of global strategic procurement for Roche. "Our spend will be more transparent and we will be able to manage this across the entire organization, which will lead to increased efficiencies and cost savings, benefiting Roche and our customers and suppliers."
