Camden, NJ: The Campbell Soup Co. spent $20,000 to lobby the federal government in the third quarter -- the same as in the third quarter of 2010 but one-third less than it spent in this year's second quarter, according to quarterly disclosure filings.
The company's main lobbying topics included food safety and labeling, a plan to change guidelines for advertising to children, free trade and increasing weight limits for trucks, according to a report filed Oct. 19 with the House clerk's office.
It lobbied the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as several federal agencies: the US Transportation Department, Food and Drug Administration, the US trade representative and the Department of Agriculture.
The report shows the Camden-based food company has been consistent in its lobbying efforts.
Over the past few years, the Camden, NJ-based company has spent $20,000 or $30,000 on lobbying most quarters and on mostly the same issues.
Lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches, under a federal law enacted in 1995.
