Office Depot CEO Roland Smith and Staples CEO Ron Sargent will testify this week in the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC’s)court challenge to Staples' $6.3 billion acquisition of Office Depot.
Shira Goodman, president of North American Operations for Staples, is also expected to testify.
Staples and Office Depot are in a struggle to complete the acquisition that Office Depot shareholders approved in May 2015. The FTC is opposed to the the merger, saying it will harm competition and drive up prices.
