FedEx is slashing its two-day air prices in order to attract online merchants to its air network. The company is currently seeking new ways to vamp its delivery system as e-commerce continues to take off.

The company is ending its air-shipping contract with Amazon later this month, MarketWatch reports. By cutting prices for some customers for its Express network, FedEx will offer guaranteed two-day air service for the same prices as shipping items through its Ground division.

MarketWatch reports that FedEx is attempting to win over its competitors with the lower prices, though, the company is still determining how its Express air network fits in with the rise of online shopping for every day household items such as toothpaste and paper towels.

A spokesperson for the company said that the company hasn't changed its pricing strategy and said that the two-day Express service "has been very successful and continues to deliver tremendous value to small and medium businesses competing in the e-commerce market."
