Delta's cargo operation was temporarily halted earlier this week after its freight system experienced a glitch.

In a notice on Delta Cargo's website, it said that the problem came to after a system update on Sunday, Dec. 9.

"Our vendor experienced server performance issues, which necessitated a worldwide embargo for all freight products until December 12 at 3:00 p.m. EST," the website states.

The company experienced performance issues across its operation, including booking, tracking and automated email notifications for shipment status. According to AJC, customers also experienced long hold times for customer service as well.

The system was updated Tuesday morning and will keep the embargo on new shipments in place to enable a large volume of backlogged shipments to be clear.
