Hayneedle to Open West Coast Distribution Center in Spring 2013

Online service provider’s first regional distribution and fulfillment facility to enable standard two-day ground shipping to 90 percent of customers

Omaha, Neb.Nov. 15, 2012Hayneedle, a goods provider which offers a user-friendly shopping experience at its online platform hayneedle.com, leased 300,000 square feet of distribution and fulfillment space in California with a new distribution center to open in the Spring of 2013—bringing the company's total space to approximately 900,000 square feet.

“The West coast facility is yet another milestone in our growth and the location aligns with our commitment to provide unparalleled selection and unmatched customer service,” said Tom Clement, Vice President of Supply Chain and Logistics, Hayneedle. “We are excited to join the Riverside community, which has been very enthusiastic in welcoming us.”

The expansion to the West Coast marks Hayneedle's first regional distribution and fulfillment facility. The new distribution center, located at 6860 Sycamore Canyon Blvd., Riverside, Calif., will include a core team of approximately 20 associates in positions ranging from general warehouse associates; to management positions in operations, human resources and industrial engineering. The number of employees is expected to double in the next few years.

From its current location in Monroe, Ohio—which opened in 2010 and recently expanded to approximately 600,000 square feet—Hayneedle delivers to 70 percent of its customers in two days via standard ground shipping. The company expects to increase that number to nearly 90 percent with the opening of the West coast distribution center. In addition to providing fulfillment to customers in the western U.S., the facility in Riverside will also serve as a deconsolidation and cross-dock site for Hayneedle's imported and exclusive home and outdoor products.

“We strive to set the highest standard for the online home furnishings industry when it comes to delivering an exceptional and consistent customer experience,” said Clement. “To do so takes intensive planning across all components of our supply chain. Our long-term facility commitments in Monroe, Ohio and now, in Riverside, California, provide additional expansion options of 220,000 square feet of space to accommodate future growth, while maintaining award-winning customer service.”
