C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation creates program for Truckload Contract Carriers

Eden Prairie, Minn.Sept. 17, 2012—To celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, the C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation created the C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation Scholarship Program for Truckload Contract Carriers to support and expand the educational success of both C.H. Robinson truckload contract carrier employees and their children.

“We want to help make sure that the cost of education isn't a roadblock for those looking to take the next step in their education journey,” said Angie Freeman, President of the C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation. “The C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation Scholarship Program helps make the dream of additional education more of a reality.”

The Truckload Contract Carrier Scholarship Program is the first of its kind that has been supported through the C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation. The program will award up to 10 $2,500 college scholarships to eligible students for the 2013-2014 academic year. Scholarship recipients must be employees at one of the 53,000 qualified truckload contract carriers of C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. Recipients must be employees with a minimum of one year employment with their respective company or dependent children of these employees.

All recipients must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate programs. Dependent children must major in transportation logistics, supply chain or business-related programs at an accredited college or vocational school. The scholarships are non-renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Applications will be made available on the C.H. Robinson Worldwide Foundation Webpage beginning in January 2013.
