SAS and CHEP Aerospace Solutions Reach Service Agreement

CHEP Aerospace Solutions supplies and manages ULD supply and logistics management for Northern European airline

Zurich, Switzerland—March 6, 2012—Under a five-year contract with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), CHEP Aerospace Solutions, a pallet and container pooling services provider, will now supply and manage the Northern European airline group’s Unit Load Device (ULD) requirements.

CHEP Aerospace Solutions is providing SAS with containers and pallets from its global pool of more than 45,000 ULDs, removing the cost and hassle for SAS of positioning, repairing and managing its own fleet.

“Contracting with CHEP Aerospace Solutions provides SAS the flexibility we need to focus upon our core business of flying passengers and cargo,” said Kenneth Fuhrmann, Director, Network & Revenue Management for SAS. “CHEP proved itself to have the resources and systems to manage our needs. We look forward to our future cooperation.”

SAS will have an option to transition to using lightweight containers supplied from CHEP’s pool, allowing the airline to reduce fuel emissions while cutting costs.

“An increasing number of airlines are recognizing that outsourcing ULD supply and management to CHEP is a viable and compelling proposition,” said Ludwig Bertsch, President, CHEP Aerospace Solutions. “We are delighted to have SAS as a customer. SAS enjoys an enviable reputation for quality and punctuality, mirroring our own values and our commitment to our customers of guaranteed availability of the right equipment in the right place at the right time.”
