Oakland, Calif.—Feb. 22, 2012—GT Nexus now provides its cloud technology platform to third-party logistics provider SEKO Logistics, Itasca, Ill., to help augment the company’s existing systems by automating logistics execution processes between SEKO and its network of global transportation carriers.
The platform will serve as an interface between SEKO systems and their global carriers and will support transactional business processes in freight execution, documentation and shipment tracking. It will also help SEKO eliminate documentation fees, reduce customer inventory safety stock and improve execution velocity at the operational level.
“We have made technology excellence a cornerstone of our strategy,” said Bill Wascher, Chief Executive Officer, SEKO Logistics. “In global logistics, you need to have a network vision for interacting with your partners. We believe cloud represents the future of business to business technology and selected GT Nexus to help us get there.”
SEKO offers a full range of supply-chain solutions including transportation services such as domestic and global air and ocean freight forwarding; customs brokerage; ground transportation; trans-border distribution; U.S. home delivery; and DC bypass shipping.
“We are thrilled to add SEKO to the community of logistics providers who are on GT Nexus driving value to their customers,” said John Urban, President of GT Nexus. “The SEKO team has a strong technology capability in place that GT Nexus will support. By tapping into our network, they extend their IT systems into the cloud, alongside the world’s biggest shippers and logistics providers.”
GT Nexus will ensure that shipment events and documents are rationalized, linked and posted in the cloud. Information will flow electronically betweens SEKO systems, GT Nexus and the systems of partners, in effect working as one information source for all stakeholders in the value chain.
“We have wrestled with EDI solutions as a way to share information across our network and have concluded that it’s not a viable solution,” said Tom Madzy, Chief Information Officer for SEKO. “With GT Nexus, we take advantage of an existing cloud platform with a proven track record of success across the world’s biggest companies and their partners. Being part of that community will provide greater value to our customers.”
