Executives on the Move at Ryder System Inc.

Miami—Feb. 14, 2012Ryder System Inc., a provider of transportation and supply chain management solutions, promoted Dennis C. Cooke to President of Global Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) and Robert E. Sanchez to President and Chief Operating Officer of Ryder System Inc.  

Succeeding Sanchez in his new position, Cooke will now be responsible for leading all areas of global business operations for the company’s largest business segment, which manages a fleet of more than 180,000 vehicles from 800 locations, servicing the needs of more than 14,000 customers.

“Over the course of his career, Dennis has developed and proven his ability to lead large teams to accelerate growth, drive operational efficiencies and increase profitability,” said Ryder’s Robert Sanchez.  “The experience, ideas and energy that Dennis has brought to his work at Ryder should continue to serve him and our company very well in this expanded role. We look forward to the benefits of his collaborative and focused leadership as our team works to accelerate profitable growth.”

In his new role, Sanchez will continue to report to Gregory Swienton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ryder System Inc., and will be responsible for the general management of all business operations of Ryder’s two business segments. The business segment presidents of both Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) and Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) will now report to Sanchez.

This appointment is another example of that commitment and one that has been well-earned by Sanchez. Because of his breadth of assignments and performance over the years, Robert is ideally suited for this position,” Swienton concluded.

Cooke served most recently as Senior Vice President, Chief of Operations for FMS in the U.S. and Canada. He joined Ryder in 2011, following a 22-year career with GE and related companies in positions that held him responsible for $1.2 billion of global revenue, including all product planning, marketing and engineering.

Sanchez has been a member of Ryder’s executive leadership team since 2003. Throughout his 18-year Ryder career, he has held a broad range of leadership positions for the corporation and both business segments.
