Chicago—Nov. 23, 2011—Rockwell Automation, Inc. has begun construction of a new manufacturing plant in the city of Jundiai near Sao Paulo, Brazil. This new plant will double the company’s manufacturing capacity in Brazil providing faster time-to-market and other competitive advantages for regional customers.
“Our target for initial occupancy is the spring of 2012 with initial production by the end of summer 2012,” said Robert Becker, president of Rockwell Automation’s Latin America region.
Allen-Bradley medium-voltage and low-voltage drives are among the new products that will be manufactured in Brazil. These products are critical to industries like oil and gas, and mining. These heavy industries often invest in large projects that require significant capital investments. They present growth opportunities for Rockwell Automation in the region.
“As the global automation market continues to grow, gaining share requires further expansion into emerging markets. Expanding our manufacturing in Brazil is a great example of our strategy in action,” said Keith Nosbusch, Rockwell Automation chairman and CEO.
“Our customers are asking us to increase manufacturing in Brazil. When our customers use locally manufactured products they can receive delivery faster,” said Becker.
Rockwell Automation’s current manufacturing plant, established in 1983 in Sao Paulo, produces ControlLogix, industrial controls, motor control centers, and customer control panels.
