German 3PL to Build New Logistics Center with TGW

Simon Hegele to include automated mini-load storage and retrieval system for totes and cartons in facility near Frankfurt

Frankfurt, Germany—Nov. 22, 2011—TGW Systems, a material handling equipment and integrated logistics solutions provider, announced that Simon Hegele, a German third party logistics (3PL) service provider selected TGW to provide the entire material handling and storage system for Hegele’s new distribution center in Raunheim (near Frankfurt).

Simon Hegele has more than 90 years of experience in complete 3PL supply chain handling. One of the company’s biggest business segments is the distribution of spare parts. At over 530,000 square feet, the new distribution center will use TGW’s automated mini-load storage system for cartons and totes to handle the spare parts processing for Hegele’s diverse range of customers.

The automated mini-load system consists of a five-aisle AS/RS warehouse with Mustang Evo stacker cranes and Twister load handling devices, a pick-up and delivery area with ten goods receiving stations, eight picking, and four multifunctional working stations, which will be used for VAS-handling (value added services) and shipping. The automated facility is designed so that it could be enlarged to nine aisles of AS/RS.

The system also includes TGW’s warehouse control system, which will coordinate the storage within the AS/RS and provide an interface to Hegele’s existing software systems.

TGW’s continuous professionalism and its competency for project implementation as well as the flexibility of the TGW system to handle and store cartons and totes within the same system were crucial in Hegele’s decision in selecting TGW.
