Biosciences company adopts auto-classification software from Zycus to cleanse data, feed Ariba spend analysis solution

Princeton, NJ March 9, 2006 Biosciences company AstraZeneca is adopting a spend analysis tool from Zycus for automated spend data classification, the solution provider has reported.

AstraZeneca has successfully tested Zycus' AutoClass software for automated spend data classification to UNSPSC codes for the company's U.K. business unit.

The pharmaceutical company selected the Zycus solution as part of its vision to build an automated spend analysis infrastructure as a permanent, secure solution behind AstraZeneca's firewall, Zycus said.

AstraZeneca is implementing a global procurement data warehouse (PDW) based on Ariba Analytics to garner potential savings opportunities from its purchasing spend spread across multiple systems and locations across the globe.

The solution provider said that its AutoClass software leveraged the historical transaction spend data (extracted from an Ariba Buyer e-procurement system) and classified the data to granular UNSPSC codes as well as custom AstraZeneca taxonomy. The data were then uploaded for spend analysis.
