Deploys trade and transportation solution from Precision Software to manage global shipments, provide common document repository

Chicago — July 17, 2006 — Hi-tech equipment manufacturer Speedline Technologies has deployed a solution from Precision Software to manage its global shipments and to provide a common document repository for its operations in different regions of the world.

A provider of equipment for the electronics assembly and semiconductor packaging industries, Speedline tapped Precision's TRAXi3 solution to manage multi-carrier parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL) and heavyweight shipping to and from Asia, Europe and North America.

In addition, the solution has ensured process support for intermediate consignee shipments into Mexico, and it provides a common document repository to share business documents between the company's U.S., Asian and European operations. Speedline also now benefits from being able to consolidate regular replenishment shipments using the TRAXi3 Dataflow functionality.

Since implementing TRAXi3, Speedline is realizing cost savings as well as increased velocity through its global supply chain, according to Roger Clement, director of worldwide logistics at Speedline.

"The TRAXi3 tool has brought tremendous advantages to our global fulfillment operations," said Clement. "Most immediate was the significant processing time savings as we reduced the average order process time by 54 percent, utilizing TRAXi3's connectivity between our [enterprise resource planning (ERP)] system and our transportation providers."

Additional key benefits have included administrative savings and ease of doing business through the Web-enabled data repository for access to all of Speedline's shipping documents by the company's international offices, Clement said. "We've reduced our error rate through TRAXi3's automated feed back to our ERP, bringing consistent accurate data back to our global database."

Despite tight implementation time constraints, a two-way interface between TRAXi3 and Speedline's ERP system, MFG/PRO eB2 from QAD, created a "best of breed" business solution to optimize Speedline's global operations. The high volume of international shipments required particular attention to mapping delivery terms and duty payment terms.

"Overall, Precision's TRAXi3 system has delivered exactly what we set out to accomplish: operational efficiencies as well as improved visibility for management reporting," Clement concluded.

Established in 1984, Dublin, Ireland-based Precision Software develops software specializing in the area of multi-modal, multi-carrier shipping, trade compliance and international trade management. Its other customers include such companies as Baxter Healthcare, Elizabeth Arden, Emerson Process Management and The Home Depot.
