Dedicated trucking services provider taps Headwater's REALDiSPATCH for real-time control of deliveries

Toronto — August 7, 2006 — Canada Cartage Diversified Income Fund, a national provider of dedicated trucking services to Canadian companies, is rolling out Headwater's REALDiSPATCH mobile in-field fleet management solution to the Ontario distribution center operations of one of its largest retail customers, Headwater has announced.

The customer dispatches approximately 45 trucks to its Ontario stores daily, and when the rollout is completed, the customer will be able to exercise real-time control over deliveries to its stores across the province.

REALDiSPATCH is a hardware-software mobile resource management solution designed for freight carriers and service/utility fleets. It automates the in-field management of trip plans, stop assignments, load metrics, delivery progress, GPS tracking, engine control module (ECM) readings, hours of service (HOS) logging and driver timesheet data.

The solution enables dispatchers to modify driver schedules, rearrange stops and measure driver and equipment performance in real time, according to Headwater. Detailed reports are available on demand or as trips are completed.

"Dependable, efficient deliveries from distribution centers to stores are critical to the maintenance of successful retail product flow and competitive pricing," said Jeff Lindsay, Canada Cartage CEO. "When product is not on the shelf, sales are lost that often cannot be recovered. Similarly, since retailing relies heavily on promotional and seasonal sales that are precisely bracketed in their duration, real-time deployment adjustments and effective resource utilization are key. REALDiSPATCH enables us to provide our customers with robust, dependable, yet flexible transportation service."

REALDiSPATCH resides on wireless data communications devices such as RIM's BlackBerry and can be deployed on major digital networks such as IDEN, 1X, and GPRS. Integrated with Headwater's Freight Logix transportation management system, REALDiSPATCH allows information from Freight Logix to be transmitted to drivers in the field. It can also be used in a standalone configuration.

Canada Cartage expects to continue to roll-out to its fleet of more than 1,400 power units at a rate of 200 per quarter. According to Headwater Senior Vice President Joe E. Couto, Canada Cartage was a major contributor to REALDiSPATCH development and was the first company to commit to a large-scale implementation of the system.
