Guilford, CT — January 3, 2005 — Supply chain solution providers Verticalnet and Manhattan Associates are set to use a transportation supply community portal to identify potential carriers for truckload (TL) bid events and requests for information (RFIs).

The two providers of transportation sourcing solutions and consulting services will use the e4score Carrier Profile Database, part of the e4score.com portal developed by iGit enterprises.

"Verticalnet's transportation sourcing solution was designed to foster a collaborative approach to develop win-win relationships between carriers and shippers," said Jeffrey Ryan, senior vice president of advanced sourcing solutions for Verticalnet, which acquired supply management consultancy Tigris Corp in January 2004.

"Maintaining a profile on e4score makes it easier for carriers to participate in Verticalnet-sponsored sourcing processes," Ryan continued. "By being part of the e4score community, carriers could be automatically considered for events where they may have otherwise been overlooked by shippers — increasing their business opportunities. This is an all-around win for shippers and carriers alike."

Matthew Menner, vice president transportation of Manhattan Associates, which acquired Logistics.com in December 2002, pointed to e4score's potential to reduce the cycle time for bid events. "The e4score Carrier Profile Database can assist our clients to identify, in a day, the most appropriate carriers to invite to a truckload RFP," Menner said. "We hope that all carriers post their profile in e4score. Those that do could be automatically considered whenever a Manhattan Associates client conducts an RFI by searching the e4score Carrier Profile Database."

"The e4score Carrier Profile is the most comprehensive and searchable, real-time TL carrier profile available in the market", said Chuck Irwin, president of iGit. "We are pleased that these two market leaders are excited about its potential to create value in the transportation sourcing process."

Smaller consulting firms also plan to use the e4score Carrier Profile. Brad McBride, president of Zero Down Consulting and formerly of EGL Eagle Logistics, explained: "Everyone knows the top 100 carriers, but our mid-cap clients need quality, up-to-date information on smaller carriers so that they can develop long-term collaborative relationships. The name of the game is to reduce costs and create efficiencies for everyone involved in the process, [and] e4score fills this gap."

Karen Irwin, vice president with iGit, said shippers and brokers can also use the e4score Carrier Profile Database for strategic carrier management, monitoring their current carriers' capabilities and operating documents, and continually optimizing their carrier base.

iGit was founded in December, 2003 by former Unilever Transportation Director Chuck Irwin with the goal of driving out waste in the transportation marketplace through cross-enterprise collaboration. Irwin said that iGit represents his perspective and passion for supplier relationship leadership and value creation, as well as his experience in purchasing, finance and technology gained over two decades with Unilever. e4score was launched in August 2004.

"e4score is off to a great start, with 27 memberships, including two of the top-10 and four of the top-50 TL carriers, and many more planning to join," Karen Irwin said. "Bid events planned for early 2005 will help drive e4score to critical mass."
