Cereal company taps ESYNC as consulting partner for supply chain execution projects

Toledo, OH — January 10, 2005 — Cereal company Malt-O-Meal has tapped supply chain consulting firm ESYNC to continue as a partner for the definition, design and implementation of several supply chain execution projects.

Based in Northfield, Minn., Malt-O-Meal was founded in 1919 and still makes its well-known hot wheat cereals, in addition to cold cereals. It products are distributed in the U.S. market and also include private label store brands.

The company is working with ESYNC on three initiatives, including the deployment of a best-of-breed warehouse management system (WMS), with process flow mapping and engineering redesign of the distribution center layout to improve throughput.

In addition, the consultancy is working with Malt-O-Meal on the custom design and development of a macro-inventory control module, as well as RFID trading partner compliance solutions design and deployment, and integration with existing manufacturing resource planning and transportation management system applications.

The scope of the project includes software implementation across Malt-O-Meal's North American network of mills, distribution centers, third-party logistics providers and co-packers.

Gene Pagel, chief information officer for Malt-O-Meal, said, "We evaluated several consulting firms and found that ESYNC's focus on supply chain execution projects, large resource base and proven methodologies, in conjunction with a long list of similar successful client engagements made ESYNC the obvious choice for this project."

John Sidell, ESYNC principal and co-founder, said, "The scope of this project is a perfect match with our expertise in facility engineering, information systems and technology deployment."
