China's largest iron and steel producer selects provider with goal of increasing business efficiency
Dallas and Shanghai — February 18, 2005 — China's largest iron and steel producer, Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Shanghai Baosteel Group Corp., said that it selected i2 Technologies Inc. in the third quarter of 2004 as its supply chain management vendor.
In an effort to become a more competitive iron and steel enterprise, Baoshan has enlisted the assistance of i2 to improve its procurement operational efficiency. Baoshan selected i2 Supplier Relationship Management, as well as Distributed Order Execution and Supply Chain Operating Services, with a goal of bringing added efficiency to its business.
"After assessing our current materials management and procurement systems and reviewing i2's supply chain management solutions, we believe that we can improve our business efficiency through the implementation of i2 solutions, allowing us to support the growth of our procurement and materials management needs," said Qingyu Li, head of enterprise system innovation department and assistant to company president, Baoshan. "Working with i2, it is our goal to gain a competitive edge and build a world-class procurement supply chain."
Baoshan reports that it selected i2 based on i2's experience with the metals industry.
