Selects i2 apps to better manage its global, multi-modal transportation operations
Dallas — February 25, 2005 — Petroleum and construction firm Ashland will use transportation and distribution management solutions from i2 Technologies in a bid to better manage its global, multi-modal transportation operations, the solution provider announced this week.
Covington, Ky.-based Ashland produces a variety of specialty chemicals, markets Valvoline auto products, performs contract construction work, and refines and supplies petroleum products. The company reported revenues of $8.3 billion in its 2004 fiscal year.
Ashland selected i2's Transportation and Distribution Management (TDM) solutions in the third quarter of 2004. i2 says its TDM solutions are designed to enable companies to procure, plan, execute, monitor and measure freight movements across multiple modes, borders and enterprises.
"These solutions can create value by synchronizing the critical transportation and distribution business processes, resulting in optimized cost and service performance," i2 said in announcing the deal.
The TDM solutions use configurable business rules and constraints to help transform order fulfillment, procurement and replenishment plans into cost optimized and executable transportation plans that adhere to facility inventory and transportation network constraints, according to i2.
By managing the entire transportation lifecycle, i2 said that these solutions can help reduce costs, improve transport efficiency and enhance customer satisfaction. In addition, these solutions are designed to provide configurable dashboards for monitoring key operational and financial performance indicators as well as carrier scorecards. i2 Transportation Bid Collaboration can provide a suite of tools for the periodic negotiation of transportation rates.
