Plastic bag and film manufacturer goes with Logistics Management Solutions to optimize, manage its transportation services

St. Louis — March 28, 2005 — Logistics Management Solutions (LMS), a non-asset-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider, has been selected to provide transportation optimization and management services to Hilex Poly Co., a manufacturer of plastic bag and film products based in Hartsville, S.C.

LMS will manage the manufacturer's truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), intermodal, bulk and specialized equipment freight operations, which entail multiple manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout North America.

"After an extensive 3PL evaluation, LMS was selected for the value and integrity they bring operationally, technically and strategically to our logistics platform," said Greg Breyer, director of supply management for Hilex Poly. "We are committed to growth and satisfying the evolving needs of our customers. LMS understands this and offers tailored solutions that streamline our operations and complement our dynamic business model."

Combining its Web-enabled transportation management system (TMS), TOTAL, with execution services, LMS gives Hilex Poly an outsourcing solution that includes data management, freight optimization, transportation execution, shipment tracking and tracing, as well as carrier contract management and freight payment services.

Additionally, authorized Hilex Poly personnel will have Internet access to shipping data, including shipment status, on-time delivery and cost savings reports.

Key to the offering is the use of TOTAL's optimization technology, according to LMS. TOTAL uses LTL data to create full truckloads of freight and TL data to create multi-stop continuous move routes that reduce high-cost minimum charges and empty miles.
