Municipal government taps Govolution for enterprise-wide e-payment processing and management solution
Arlington, VA — April 4, 2005 — Virginia's Fairfax County government has implemented an enterprise e-payment management (EEM) solution from Govolution as part of an initiative to offer e-payment options to citizens and businesses while providing insight and control to enforce and manage policies and monitor costs.
The county deployed Govolution's Velocity Payment System (VPS) for more than 30 County applications. Departments participating in the program include the county's Tax Administration, Parks and Recreation, Solid Waste, Animal Control and Finance.
"Fairfax County is a dynamic and rapidly growing area," said a county spokesperson. "By going with Govolution, the county is getting a state-of-the-art, enterprise-wide e-payment processing and management system, at a lower cost, that will scale to meet our e-government initiatives and needs as they grow."
Govolution said its VPS solution enables management of electronic payments across all departments and all collection mechanisms, including point of sale, telephone, interactive voice response (IVR) and the Web.
"The enterprise solution reduces the manual administration of payments at the department level while streamlining integration of transaction data to department specific back-office systems," Govolution said in announcing the deal with the county. "With enhanced and maximum granularity in reporting, VPS enables treasury departments to monitor collection activity across all departments."
"Fairfax County's success represents what can be achieved by going with a true enterprise e-payments system," said Chris Flaesch, CEO of Govolution. "Ultimately, this means better services for everyone, but for those employees charged with the awesome day-to-day operations, such as the treasury and CIO, it means greater control and flexibility to monitor, manage and adjust processes for maximum effectiveness countywide."
County agencies that will be going live this year include Circuit Court Land Records Division, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services Land Development Services and Special Collections, Department of Community and Recreation Services Athletic Services Division, and the Department of Human Services' Alcohol Safety Action Program.
Govolution's other clients comprise more than 80 federal agencies and departments, including the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and treasury departments in states and municipalities such as Delaware, Kern County (Calif.) and Cambridge, Mass.
