RedPrairie integrates active RFID systems for asset visibility, security and supply chain condition monitoring

Waukesha, WI — April 29, 2005 — Supply chain technology solutions provider RedPrairie and Wavetrend, a UK-based supplier of active ultra long range (ULR) radio frequency identification (RFID) technology systems, today announced a partnership agreement.

According to the Agreement, RedPrairie will become a value-added reseller (VAR) for Wavetrend's active RFID and data collection middleware technology. RedPrairie will integrate Wavetrend tag and reader systems into its transportation and yard management, labor management, supply chain security, and mobile asset management solutions.

The companies expect the combined applications to enable customers to use active RFID technology to accurately identify, manage and track physical assets, information and personnel.

RedPrairie said Wavetrend's offering will extend beyond traditional asset locating functions, providing enhanced sensor, environmental and other telematic data that is integrated with the tag.

Wavetrend and RedPrairie are currently engaged in two deployments of the Wavetrend active RFID technology with RedPrairie's DLx Mobile Resource Management solution for asset tracking.

"Our partnership with Wavetrend allows us to expand our solutions suite of RFID-based applications to include active RFID-based data capture capabilities, combined with supply chain condition monitoring," noted Michael Dempsey, Company Strategy leader at RedPrairie. "For example, using the Wavetrend tags in conjunction with our DLx Mobile Resource Management solution for real-time asset management we can monitor and provide visibility to temperature changes, thereby ensuring the quality and freshness of food products or the effectiveness of cold chain pharmaceuticals."
