New process framework said to accelerate business process improvement, management
Southfield, MI, and San Francisco May 16, 2005 — Proforma Corp., a provider of enterprise modeling for business process improvement and enterprise architecture, today at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2005 announced the upcoming launch of its latest process modeling tool set, called ProVision BPMx.
To be released this summer, ProVision BPMx is designed to deliver process analysis, modeling and simulation capabilities, with integration links to downstream implementation technologies, which are organized under one business process management (BPM) framework.
Proforma said ProVision BPMx was developed to answer customer demands to gain an overall handle on end-to-end business processes, not simply to automate discrete processes in isolation of other business activities.
According to the January 14, 2005, META Group report "Business Process Management: Success Starts Here," "The concept of BPM is all about establishing goals, defining strategies, and setting objectives for improving particular operational processes that have significant impact on corporate performance."
Proforma said that ProVision BPMx is comprised of five key components. The first is Process Motivation, in which strategic modelers document organizational goals, opportunities, problems and business rules. Next is Process Participants, in which organization modelers provide a structured framework for identifying the organization's involvement in the key processes of the enterprise. The third is Process Definitions, in which rocess/workflow modelers allow users to visually document and (re)design end-to-end organizational processes to improve process performance. Then Process Analysis analyzes process model performance. Finally, Design Implementation establishes a foundation for process improvement initiatives and accelerates BPM implementations by allowing organizations to collaborate with BPM suites, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and IT platforms via an interface.
