Airline's maintenance facilities to use solution to manage its rapidly expanding fleet
Le Bourget, France — June 17, 2005 — Ultramain Systems Inc. today announced that its maintenance and logistics software solution, Ultramain, has been selected by Emirates as the airline's aircraft maintenance solution, to be deployed throughout Emirates' state-of-the-art maintenance facilities in Dubai, UAE, and around the world.
Commenting on the choice of Ultramain, Adel Al Redha, Emirates' executive vice president, Engineering and Operations, said, "Emirates selected Ultramain because of the software's rich functionality and ability to be deployed across extensive operations, which will fit well with our own needs. Emirates also believes that Ultramain Systems' practice of working closely and collaboratively with its customers will facilitate the smooth implementation of the system at Emirates."
Emirates said it selected Ultramain because it has a rapidly expanding fleet that will continue to be managed and maintained in-house.
"With Ultramain, Emirates will have the software foundation it needs to maintain its existing fleet, while allowing for the addition of new aircraft over the coming years," said Mark McCausland, president of Ultramain Systems. "In fact, Emirates plans to use Ultramain to support the introduction of its A380 fleet. The airline has ordered 45 of the new Airbus double-decker A380s and will be one of the first airlines to fly this type of plane."
Ultramain will be used extensively at Emirates' new $353 million engineering center, currently under construction at Dubai Airport, which when completed later this year will be the world's largest maintenance facility for the A380 aircraft. Covering 55 hectares (136 acres), the complex will feature a total of eight hangars, each capable of accommodating the A380, including possible stretch derivatives.
Emirates Engineering's growing workforce is likely to exceed 3,000 employees within a few years time and many of the staff will use Ultramain to schedule, track and complete the numerous detailed tasks necessary to keep Emirates' extensive fleet in prime operating condition.
